~Current Pricing ~

The fee for my services is currently $125. Upon scheduling your session, your fee will be locked at the current price. This 45 minute-2 hour session is with 5 {five} or fewer participants taking place within a reasonable vicinity. I require half ($62.50) of the fee to be paid when you book and then the remaining balance when you receive your disc.

About your Photo CD

A Sneak Peek of your session will be uploaded to my Facebook page {essence photography by karen} within two weeks (this will include 3-6 pictures from your session) A preview of your photo session will be uploaded with 5 weeks to my Facebook page (this will include most of the pictures from your session) Please allow around 4-6 weeks for your cd to be completed.

Shared Copyright

I want you to have full freedom and flexibility in choosing your photos. That is why I offer my clients a disc of all edited photos. You will be granted shared copyright privileges which simply means that while 'Essence Photography by karen' solely owns the images, you as the client, will be granted certain rights to them as well. These rights include unlimited sharing via web or email, printing, copying and/or enlarging. You may NOT, however, alter them in any way or claim them as your own. {ie convert a color photo to black/white or alter the colors in any form. You may not share the photo or photos as one or ones you yourself have taken.} When sharing your photographs publicly, credit shall always be attributed to 'Essence Photography by karen'.

It is my hope that my sessions are really fun and relaxed ..each session generally lasts anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. I will happily photograph your party of five {5} or fewer and take individual as well as group shots. If you would like to schedule a session lasting longer or to accommodate larger parties, you can contact me via email or message me on Facebook and I will be happy to work something out with you!

I like to describe my style of photography as "everyday-artistic". In photographing children.. I love the simplicity of sweet imperfections. Forced smiles and poses are not my style. I want to capture the genuine moments, not shying away from artistic cropping, moody lighting or pictures of non-smiling children. It is my belief that there is art in everyone..especially children, I think it is very special to embrace the badges of honor in a child's life such as a lost tooth, a dirty face and messy hair. I want to capture the essence in all special or even not-so-special moments.

You will see me drag vintage furniture outdoors for sessions; I am one who wholeheartedly believes that an old building, complete with peeling paint, will make the perfect backdrop for a portrait.

I do primarily shoot in natural light, so morning or early evening is best for what I call magical light. Although I have some wonderful suggestions for locations, I would love for you to share with me other options that might best represent you and/or your family. I am willing to travel to these locations to capture the best possible memory.

What to Wear

clothing is an instrumental part of creating a fabulous photo. It adds to the feel of your entire image. Layering items creates texture and visual interest to your picture as well as versatility. A jacket, sweater, and scarf can give your image depth and color. Hats, skirts, and funky boots are great too! Anything that will pull out a personality is encouraged!!
